Meeting was called to order at 11:30 a.m.
Alison Cruess, Communications Coordinator, Information Technology Services
Cruess described a number of initiatives that will impact campus during fall 2006 and spring 2007. Full details may be found in the attached PowerPoint presentation.

Highlights of the presentation

Conversion of 110 General Technology classrooms will be completed by Spring 2007. Once completed, there will be no need to request A/V support in classrooms. In Spring 2007, several “model technology classrooms” will be undergoing analysis. Two are located in Bldg. 39; three in Bldg. 51; and 1 in Bldg. 45.

Fall 2006—Freshman Interest Group (FIG) IPOD project. Joint effort of COAS, Academic Affairs, and ITS to test the impact of IPOD use in a class-setting. Student response systems are being evaluated for classroom use. These systems allow students to give feedback during classes, even answer test questions. The University has been selected for an ITUNES project. More info can be found at: http://www.apple.com/education/solutions/itunes_u/

E-mail can be sent to classes using a format of coursename (underscore) CRN@unf.edu. CRN stands for Course Reference Number. For example, ACG1054_33145@unf.edu. E-mail can also be sent to class lists from Banner and Blackboard as well.

Linux changes in the fall mean that students will have access to file storage on campus-wide H: drive. Also, a new email system is coming--Web Access. Pine and Horde will eventually be phased out.

The next Support Services meeting is planned for August 17, 2006.

Meeting adjourned at 12:15 p.m.
