Subject: RE: Research Committee

Dear Colleagues,

Based on the votes received, here are the officers for the Research Committee 2006-07.

Kathy Bloom:  Chair
Layne Wallace: Vice Chair
Vicki Stanton:   Secretary  (Sharon told me that she supports Vicki for the position. Also, now I can tell you that Vicki did an outstanding job last year in taking care of the minutes and contributing significantly to the committee's work).

I have not yet heard from Dr. Ahearn. He did  not reply to my emails. Maybe Cindy or Kathy could contact him.

I will meet with Kathy tomorrow early in the morning and hand over the committee notebook. If you would like to attend this meeting please come to Kathy's office on the third floor of building 39, room 3059 (meeting starts at 8:15 AM and should last 10-15 minutes).

Please note that there are two urgent Issues for the Research Committee to examine:

(1) Enhanced role for Research Committee (Bylaws changes?)

(2) Modifications of the Facilities and Administrative (F&A) Cost Rate on Contracts

Also, The committee should invite Dr. Imeh Ebong for the first meeting. The August 22 Executive Committee meeting minutes will be posted shortly and I suggest the chair (and committee members) read those minutes.

Please keep in mind that there are important deadlines for proposal submission, evaluation of proposals, and recommendations to Academic Affairs . Thus, it is extremely important to plan ahead.

Once you decide on committee meetings for this semester (or for this year) please send this information to Cindy.

I wish you a successful academic year!

Mina
