Election of new officers: JoAnn Nolin (previously Vice Chair) was elected Chair; Richard Chant was elected Vice Chair; Krista Paulsen will remain Secretary.
Jace Hargis reviewed the charge of the Faculty Enhancement Committee, distributed the OFE/CIRT mission statement, and shared a calendar of upcoming events and programs sponsored by OFE/CIRT.
The committee discussed goals that should guide our work during the coming year. Suggestions included:
FEC should assist Jace Hargis is defining faculty needs and desires in terms of OFE/CIRT programming, and help stimulate attendance at events

Bylaws should be amended to allow 2 COAS participants, to compensate for larger COAS faculty

FEC members should work at the college level to improve attendance at events

OFE/CIRT might work on program- or department-specific events

OFE/CIRT could work with departments on new faculty mentoring

FEC should lobby for additional OFE/CIRT funding and/or resources
Committee members were asked to identify and/or suggest three central goals that should guide the Committee’s agenda for the year.
Hargis briefly discussed results of the faculty needs assessment survey administered last spring. 113 faculty members responded. Results will be distributed to FEC members electronically.
The Committee discussed the Summer Teaching Grant review process. Consensus was to pursue the reviews in much the same way as last year, dividing the work among Committee members and outside reviewers solicited by Committee members. JoAnn Nolin will pursue ways of altering the process for the next cycle, and these may be reviewed by the Committee during the year.
Meeting times for fall semester were set. The Committee will meet on the last Tuesday of the month, at 10:00 in the OFE conference room. Next meeting is September 27 at 10:00 in the OFE conference room.
Meeting adjourned at 11:10 a.m.
