Review of Minutes:
Minutes of the last meeting were reviewed and approved.

2006-7 Nominations & Leadership: The Vice-Chair (Chant) will become chair next year, and a new vice-chair will be elected at the first meeting in Fall 2006. New committee members will be invited to the last meeting of the year (April 25).

Faculty Survey: Nolin suggested that the next faculty needs survey include questions on how faculty understand the OFE’s role, and the meaning of “enhancement.” This survey would be drafted this term and reviewed by the new members in early fall, then distributed in the middle of fall 2006

Summer Teaching Grants: Nolin invited commentary on the Summer Teaching Grant review process. The Committee agreed that this year’s review went much more smoothly than last, but the process of tabulating scores was still somewhat cumbersome. The Committee discussed means of automating this process, through an Excel program or Blackboard course. Due to concerns regarding confidentiality, an alternative program – Web Surveyor – may provide the best platform for automating the review process. Richard Chant will work with CIRT’s David Wilson on this during the summer.

Other Business: The Spring 2006 OFE/CIRT schedule is finished, and suggestions are currently being solicited for the Fall 2006 program (due by July). Suggestions from the Committee include a session on Hybrid Courses (jointly organized with the Distance Learning Committee) and a session on teaching and learning in large classes. Questions were raised about including more faculty development content in New Faculty Orientation. Hargis noted that the agenda for this event is quite tight, and very competitive as many offices want to be represented.

Hargis’s Report: Applications are now being accepted for the BUILD course development seminar to be held May 1-3. Six places are available; incentives to participate include a technology tool. Hargis is also encouraging faculty to use the FEEDS studio for recording course modules; OFE/CIRT will pay the fee for this through Summer 2006. OFE/CIRT is also hosting the Florida Faculty Development Consortium. Thirty-two development professionals will participate. Offerings include a panel discussion on Mentoring that is open to all faculty (March 9). Hargis also noted that he will be speaking with Dan Dundon about creating a distinct “Faculty” tab on the UNF Homepage and in My Wings. Committee members concurred that this is a good idea, and that OFE/CIRT should also pursue having multiple links on the UNF site (e.g. as “CIRT”, “Faculty Enhancement”) to facilitate contact.
