News from OFE/CIRT (Deb Miller)
1.

UNF website - The committee continued to work on a list of links for the faculty/staff web page that will be submitted as a recommendation to Dan Dundon. Diane Tanner will type up the list and send out to committee members for comments. The ideas presented to the committee from Dennis Gay brought up a suggestion that CTC propose such a page to post on the University website that would allow students to explore by majors. Diane Tanner will get a list of majors and draft a list for the committee to review.

2.

Banner changes – Student login changes to the Spriden ID will take effect January 1, 2006. Diane Tanner will create an info item for the December Faculty Association packet for faculty in anticipation of questions from students.

3.
Blackboard/WEbCt merger – Deb Miller reported information from the Town Hall meeting at the EduCause conference she attended. Blackboard and Web CT have merged. The two products will function separately for at least for a couple of years.

4.

Confidential Email
Paul Harwood asked that we discuss emailing in Banner to students that have their information marked as “confidential.” If you hit “Email class” banner lists all student emails within the “To:” line, rather than placing them automatically as a “bcc.”  We will direct this concern to Shawn Brayton.

5.

Web Portal
A discussion with Tony, Scott, and Dmitry uncovered a disconnection in the way information is reported and disseminated on campus. The problem relates to a lack of infrastructure for what information belongs in the portal and what belongs on the University’s website. The committee learned that a number of orphan pages exist.
