Action team proposal status from CTC and DLC: |
|
Diane Tanner and Deb Miller met with Lance Taylor and Kathy Hughes concerning the proposed Action Team that would address and approve faculty technologies that impacted the entire campus, such as blogs, classroom response systems, etc. Lance commented that an action team is supposed to exist for only a short period of time, and that faculty needed new technologies should go to the c-techs for help. After much discussion, it appeared that communication between faculty, CIRT, and the c-techs needed improvement. Lance said he would support an action team for specific needs as they arise. CTC will monitor this for a couple of months and assess again. |

UNF website |
1. |
CTC addressed concerns of the new UNF webpages. Barbara Tuck did some research and found that the new UNF main page was following the trend of other Universities by trending to a marketing approach with very few links. CTC suggested changes to the Faculty/Staff page (2 nd level). Dan agreed to make changes to the Faculty/Staff page after receiving input from CTC. A list of desired links will be developed by CTC and sent to Dan Dundon. It was noted that some of the 3 rd and 4 th level pages on the UNF site had no owners. CTC will look at applicable pages and suggest changes to Bernard since some of them have the ‘old’ link categories from the old UNF main page. |

2. |
Dan Dundon is currently in the testing phase of obtaining a content management system for the UNF web site. It will apply to the first and second level pages. Resources for the 3 rd level and below are likely not available at this time. CTC recommended that the name of this system be changed to a web management system so departments and facutly would not think the content on the lower level pages was being controlled. The committee asked about content of the Wings portal and was referred to Tony Turrin. Tony will be invited to the next meeting. The committee suggested that Dan’s department make a list of orphaned web pages. CTC will send a short list of pages that are accessed by faculty that need to be changed. |

Confidential Email:
From Paul Harwood: “A faculty member in COAS has raised the following: “Under banner some students have their information marked as “confidential;” however, if you hit “Email class” banner lists all student emails within the “To:” line, rather than placing them automatically as a “bcc.” I think this could be discussed by our committee since at the moment the confidentiality agreement over student information here is gray. At the moment the faculty is hand-removing the emails of student’s who have “confidential” by their name on the roll. This obviously is a long-winded way.”
