Ms. Connie Corker joined the Committee to discuss the University Academic Appeals Committee Bylaws and the process for appealing an academic decision.

Ms. Corker provided the Committee with an overview of the University Academic Appeals Committee. She provided the Committee with a brief history of the Academic Appeals Committee that included the formation of the Committee Bylaws and the development of the current appeals process. Apparently the appeals process was not reviewed at the time the Appeals Committee Bylaws were established two years ago.

Ms. Corker also detailed the current appeals process for the Committee members including several examples of different issues that had gone through the current appeals process.

The Committee, with Ms. Corker’s input, reviewed the initial draft of a revised appeals process that Ms. Tanner had volunteered to develop at the January 23, 2006 meeting. All present provided input into the draft with Ms. Tanner agreeing to incorporate the changes and distribute them to the Committee members for review prior to the next scheduled Committee meeting.
