Update on Automating the APC Forms Submission/Review Process

Janet Bosnick announced that the budget request has been submitted.

V.  Lab Fees

Shawn Brayton explained that the sections of APC1 and APC2 that ask for a lab fee amount are creating confusion because faculty members completing the forms think that the lab fees are approved by the APC. According to Florida statute, all requests for lab fees must be submitted to the Auxiliary Oversight Committee and the fee amounts must be published in the catalog. Katharine Brown suggested that the first part of Section B(5) on the APC1 and Section C(5) on APC2 be retained and that a drop-down box be added that allows the faculty member to choose either “None” or “Applied for. See instructions.” Shawn will supply the lab fee application form to attach to the instructions.

VI.  Review of APC3 EZ Form Instructions

Janet asked the Committee where the APC3 EZ Form instructions should be placed in the APC form instructions pages. Discussion will be postponed until the June meeting so that Committee members will have time to review the instructions pages.

VII. Other Business

Katharine Brown asked how the APC forms should be submitted to reflect the termination of a lab course when the lecture course is still being taught. It was decided that two APC2 forms should be submitted to terminate the two courses along with an APC1 to create a new course.

Katharine also mentioned a problem with pulling out the APC2 minors from the archives of the legislative calendar because they are arranged by date. It was suggested that a catalog be created for the APC2 minors and that a link for the APC2 minors be added at the bottom of the Legislative Items page. This must be approved by the Faculty Association Committee. Katharine will mock up an example for Janet to present the next FA Executive Council meeting.

VIII. Adjournment and Next Meeting

The next APC meeting will be held June 1, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty Association meeting area in Building 11, Room 1327.
