MINUTES OF MEETING
NOMINATIONS AND ELECTIONS COMMITTEE
Thursday, September 30, 2004

Call To Order:

Barbara Olinzock called the meeting to order at 12:15 p.m.

Members Present:

Patrick Plumlee, Homer Bates, Catherine Hough, Lee Richardson, Barbara Olinzock, Yemisi Bolumole

Members Absent:

Michael Jackson, Russell Mays

Others Attendance:

N/A

I.	Approval of Minutes:
	This was the first meeting of the year so minutes were unavailable for approval.

II.	Old Business:
	No old business.

III.	New Business:
	The Committee has an information item on the agenda for the October FA meeting regarding nominations for upcoming Nominations and Election Committee vacancies. Yemisi Bolumole nominated Robert Frankel from the College of Business for the At Large vacancy. Outgoing members will solicit nominees from their colleges for the other vacancies. There was some discussion about the nomination and election process for N & E vacancies. It was determined that nominations will be taken through October 29 and submitted at that time so a ballot can be created. Nominations will also be taken from the floor during the November FA meeting. Voting will take place after the November FA meeting until 4:00 p.m. and the next day, from 9:00 am until 1:00 p.m. in the Faculty Commons. This will be an information item for the November FA meeting agenda. There was a brief discussion about scheduling N & E Committee members to monitor ballot boxes and count ballots after the election. Full scheduling will be done via email.

V.	Adjournment & Next Meeting:
	The meeting was adjourned at 12:40 p.m. The next formal meeting will be scheduled for sometime in early January 2005 to orient new members and go over procedures for the spring elections.
