You are right . . . we neglected to include in the bylaws any provision for dealing with ties.  I have consulted Cannon's Rules of Order, which is our parliamentary authority and it says:

" . . . the assembly itself not only determines how elections are to be conducted (those areas not already provided for in the bylaws or standing rules) but also controls and makes the final judgment on the results of an election." [p. 134, Cannon's Rules]

To me, this means that we need to go back to the Association in December with a proposal on how to resolve the tie (flip a coin or whatever) and let the Association vote on the proposal.  Between now and our Executive Committee meeting on the 16th, check with members of your committee and come up with a recommendation.  We'll have the Executive Committee put it on the agenda for the December meeting.

Once we resolve this election, we then need to amend the bylaws to include a provision for ties.

Judy, we tallied the vote and the results are as follows (the At-large position was a tie):

College of Arts & Sciences: Claudia Scaff
College of Business: Louis Woods
College of Computing, Eng. & Const: Sherif Elfayoumy
College of Health: Jan Meires
At-large: Tie between Robert Frankel and Cynthia Jorden

I couldn't find in the by-laws how to resolve a tie?? Please advise.

ThanksJ
