4.

C-Techs and Classroom Technology documentation.

-- Marianne Jaffee has agreed to secure agenda time for C-Techs at Fall Faculty Orientation on Aug 19, although the format may change to panel discussions. OFE will also include information about c-techs at the Faculty Blackboard sessions in August.

Marianne suggested asking Mary O’Neal to include John Sharp at the HR orientation agenda since it is a mandatory event.

-- Currently, 42 rooms across 10 buildings have “Classroom Informational Sheets” linked on “Classroom Equipment link” pages (https://csdweb.unf.edu/compserv/info/techclass.html).

Email will be sent to the list of faculty teaching in these rooms this summer requesting their assistance in evaluating the documents.

Podcasting.

-- OFE is assisting in piloting a podcast with Bill Slaughter for a Fall class. An ipod and microphone are available from OFE for check-out if other faculty are interested in testing/developing opportunities to use this technology.

The Apple Store (St. Johns Town Center) offers educational discounts on hardware to UNF faculty.

6.

Banner/myWings update.

-- The Faculty Services page in the myWings portal is under development. Faculty self-service menus will allow faculty to view class rosters, waitlists, and some student information for future classes. OFE and Library will have channels on this page and are developing content. CTC may work with OFE to include technical items/issues as necessary, such as FLR, I2, etc.

-- CTC should consider creating an Information Item in FA packet for September meeting to inform faculty of the items available. (Include in item #8, below)

New Business.
1.

Nominations for Chair for 2005-2006:

  Diane Tanner
  Dale Clifford
  Cathy Cavanaugh (declined)

A quorum was not present; therefore an e-mail vote will take place.

2.

“What’s New?”

-- It was agreed CTC will produce an annotated list once a semester as an Information Item in the FA packet, as a tech update for faulty who may not get such news any other way. This item will include a link to the portal channel for OFE and should be included in the Sept 2005 packet if possible.

3.

Florida Lambda Rail

-- Lance Taylor, ITS, would like to meet with CTC “…to discuss ways in which faculty research and instruction will benefit from the FLR, the National LambdaRail, and Internet2…” The new chair will set a date once the Fall schedule is set.

4.

Future issues to consider:

-- Is ITS prepared to meet the needs of faculty using new tools, such as web logs?

-- Consider having a faculty mentor on technology within each college to keep the faculty up to speed with the students.
