2.

February UTC minutes and notes from the March 7 UTC meeting were discussed.
-- ITS announced the postponement of transition to the new Banner generated ID (Nxxxxxxxx) as network ID for existing users until October 2005. New users are being assigned this new numbered ID as of March 1.
-- Rollout of Tumbleweed anti-spam product occurred around March 1. CTC reports hearing positive comments from faculty. Dale will be sending a detailed explanation of the process for placing a sender on the whitelist to her faculty since the blocked messages are only being retained for 7 days. It may be appropriate for ITS to send the information prior to the start of summer term.
-- $100K wireless initiative will be implemented during summer to provide wireless access points across campus, using the 802.11G standard. Deb stated CIRT has 802.11 B/G capable equipment. ITS will be asked to make a statement at the next FA meeting to announce the standard for people expecting to connect, in case they need to upgrade.
-- Banner Student update was given by team leader Shawn Brayton. Reminder to all: summer registration will be in existing system, but Advanced Term Registration for fall will be in Banner.

3. Distance Learning Committee is writing its Bylaws and creating a marketing plan.

4.

OFE/CIRT update.
-- Blackboard Week and the CIRT Garage Sale are next week. Non-current software/hardware, extra documentation, other equipment/accessories, etc. can be transferred to faculty. After faculty, C-techs will be allowed to transfer items to their units.
-- Funding has been received for a DVD authoring workstation (high-end Mac) and will be in place for summer.
-- Scantron connected to a computer for analysis will be in place by summer.
-- A class evaluation set of PowerResearcher will be available for use by one instructor at a time.
-- OFE & ITS are setting up a virtual server to provide the ability to test unique server environments independent of the ITS secured server environment.
-- WebSurvey is being evaluated for those interested in trying it. It is more powerful and easier to use than FormProc.

5.

ITS update.
-- Fred Sudler (CCB) sent a sample of documentation for one of their classrooms. Cato will update the existing links on their "Classroom Equipment link" pages (https://csdweb.unf.edu/compserv/info/techclass.html) with information for ITS classrooms, and others, as soon as the C-techs have finalized documentation.
-- ITS is replacing remote controls in tech classrooms with a bolt-down control panel. Now, faculty will need to bring a laser pointer, if needed.
-- Cables for direct connection of laptops will be placed in ITS tech classrooms for ease of use.
-- At the request of CTC, speaker-type will be added to the equipment pages. (There seems to be some confusion on the type and control of speakers in the auditoria in bldg 50.)
-- ITS classrooms and labs use network login of user instead of generic accounts now. CTC would like to see a local generic account (power user) created for use when network is down.
-- 20 minute idle time shutdown has been implemented on all ITS classroom and lab machines.

6. Network Acceptable Use policy - Katharine stepped down as chair of the UTC Action Team, although she will remain on Team. CTC will continue to participate in the development of network use policies but will not be the primary entity for the policies' creation.

7. Plagiarism trapping/education - This issue was referred to Academic Standards for consideration. This committee will make recommendations on technology, if asked.

No New Business.
