by the Support Services Committee this year.

Information Shared about Support Services

Each month, the Committee invited UNF support personnel to share information about their services.
A summary of this shared information was disseminated at monthly Executive Committee and Faculty Association meetings and posted via Committee meeting minutes within the Faculty Association website.
A summary of the information shared at each Committee meeting follows.

In September, Jennifer Neidhardt from Human Resources talked to the Committee about changes faculty and staff benefits, including changes in health insurance, life insurance, and medical coverage. Password changes in the People First website were also discussed.

Sarah Philips and Barbara Tuck discussed new services and initiatives at the Library during the October meeting. Sarah talked about the Library Liaison/Faculty Representative program. Information regarding
the peer-reviewed open-accessed journal BePress, Berkeley Electronic Press, was presented.
Barbara talked about the growing art collection in the library. Data regarding the thriving library instruction programs headed by Jim Alderman were presented. Information about uBorrow, an interlibrary loan
service, was shared. Barbara announced that the Library’s Events and Programs Committee invites UNF faculty to partner in a presentation.

In December, Marianne Jaffee presented a table that listed the varied and numerous UNF grants that are available to faculty. These funding opportunities for faculty (see http://www.unf.edu/groups/unffa/Archive_1_Agenda/Archives2010_2011/February_2011/

) were presented as
an Information Item at the February Faculty Association meeting.

In January, Vince Smyth reported on upcoming service changes by Auxiliary Services, which includes the UNF Bookstore, Parking and Transportation Services, Ticket Box Office, Community First Credit Union, printing and copying services, vending machines, Osprey 1 Card services, and more. He shared the success of the book rental program, the building of the new dining hall, the loss of parking spaces at the Dottie Dorian Fitness Center, the increase of premium parking spaces, the installation of three new cash to Osprey Card machines, the addition of the Greek Shipping Company retail outlet, and the development of parking garage monitoring system.

Lt. Tammy Oliver from the University Police Department joined the February Committee meeting. She talked about the Building Adoption Program where officers are assigned to specific buildings and the Active Shooter Program. The Save Our Students (SOS) Team Program was also discussed. The SOS Team is comprised of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Police Chief, the Director of Counseling and the Director of Admissions. She said that faculty should notify any member of the team if they know of a student who is in need of help. She also discussed assistance that is offered to faculty and staff, including dead batteries, locked doors, and flat tires. She reported improvements in communication, including 911 calls made at UNF going directly to the UNF Police, instead of going to Jacksonville and then UNF.

In March, the Committee welcomed Dr. Kristine Webb, Director of Disability Resource Center, DRC. She presented a handout that included dramatic increases in the number of students who access DRC services, the number of visits to the DRC, the number of exams administered in the DRC, and the number of students with disabilities who graduate. Kris emphasized her willingness to partner with departments or professors to better meet the needs of students with disabilities on campus.
