Faculty Association Standing Committee Minutes


Members Present:	Steven Williamson, Barbara Tuck, Susan Syverud, Chris Gabbard, Jacqueline Batey, Alan Harris, Debbie Kochanowski

Guest:	Dr. Kristine Webb, Director Disability Resource Center


I.	Approval of Minutes:
	The minutes of the February 2 meeting were approved.

III.	New Business:
		Committee members welcomed Debbie Kochanowski, the new committee representative from Brooks College of Health.

		Dr. Kristine Webb, Professor: Department of Exceptional Student and Deaf Education and Director: Disability Resource Center, spoke to the committee about the growth of programs in the Center. She highlighted the dramatic increase in the number of students with disabilities with a series of graphs attached to these minutes. They show the number of new students, the number of student visits to DRC, the number of exams in DRC and the number of students who graduated – from 2004-05 to 2009-10. She also talked about the military veterans who are returning to school with many physical and emotional problems.

		DRC ACCESS: A Comprehensive Collaboration to Ensure Student Success

		Dr. Webb reiterated how she can partner with departments and professors to help them assist students with various physical, emotional and developmental disabilities. She urged Committee members to remind their colleagues about the services her Center provides.

	The meeting adjourned at 2 p.m.
