II.
Announcement:

Susan reported that Ozzie Vazquez does not work at UNF anymore. She notified Pat Plumlee to
see about getting representation for the Brooks College of Health.

III.
New Business:

-
Lt. Tammy Oliver of UNF’s Police and Public Safety Department spoke to the committee about several things she thought were important for faculty to know.

-
The Department sponsors a Building Adoption Program where officers are assigned to specific buildings on campus. The aim is to get to know faculty and staff in the buildings and to build trust and a partnership.

-
She talked also about the Active Shooter Program.  It was noted that there are probably many new faculty who may not know about this.  Lt. Oliver indicated that this is a very important program and she hoped all faculty and staff would participate in the training.

-
The SOS Team (Save Our Students) program was discussed.  This is a team that is ready to work with students who are causing problems or who may need counseling intervention.  The team is made up of the Vice President for Student Affairs, the Police Chief, the Director of Counseling and the Director of Admissions.  She said faculty should notify any member of the team if they encounter students they think need help.

-
Lt. Oliver talked about some of the services that are available to all faculty and staff:  assistance with vehicles -- including batteries, locked doors, and tires.  The department can also provide security assessments of workspaces and assistance with crime related issues.

-
She reported that the department has received a $120,000 grant for communications which include portable and mobile radios to meet new standards for Homeland Security.

-
Finally she reported that the emergency 911 call now goes straight to the UNF Police instead of going to Jacksonville and then being routed back to UNF.
