Approval of Minutes:

The minutes of the December 11 meeting were approved.

II.
New Business

Vince Smyth talked to the Committee about the areas that Auxiliary Services administers.  That includes everything on the campus that is retail: the UNF Bookstore, Parking and Transportation Services, Food Services, Ticket Box Office, Community First Credit Union, printing and copying services throughout the campus, vending machines, Osprey1 Card services, the Greek Trading Company, etc.

Smyth talked about the book rental program with Follett that has been very successful.  The Bookstore began with 20 titles as part of a pilot program.  Now there are 678 rentals out of 1,931 titles.  He thinks it is a bridge to e-books which are becoming more popular.

Smyth reported that try as they might, they could not make the Bistro at UNF Hall profitable.  It is now closed.  A new main dining hall is planned and in the works. The present building will be razed and the new one built on the same site. He talked about the plans to feed students during the year the building will be out of use.

The university lost 125 parking spaces at the Dottie Dorian Fitness Center as a new building is in the construction phase now and covering that lot.  The ratio of premium parking spaces was increased to better utilize empty spaces in the lot in front in the library.  Fines will not be levied after 8 p.m. on weeknights. This is a change from 9 p.m. previously.  Fridays and weekends remain the same.

Three cash to card machines were installed last semester.  The library applauded this addition!
The Greek Shipping Company is a new retail outlet specializing in sorority and fraternity items.  It also handles all kinds of personal mailing, including FedEx, UPS, US Postal etc.

Also in the works is a project to increase parking efficiency in parking garages on campus.  During the fall semester, a class of senior electrical engineering students designed a parking garage monitoring system that has been installed in Garage 38.  Testing of the system will be conducted this spring.  The system has been designed to provide commuters with the garage occupancy status through either a web-based application or using a smart phone.  The project is being conducted by Alan Harris and was funded through a TLO and by Auxiliary Services.

III.
Adjournment and Next Meeting:
The meeting adjourned at 2 p.m.
The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, February 2, Bldg 57/3510.

Respectfully submitted,

Barbara Tuck
