During her discussion, she stated the UNF 07/08 adjusted budget reduction amounted to $1,191,992 or 1.43% of GR Revenues. .  The results of this discussion were presented to the faculty in a Faculty Association meeting as well as in a narrative report.

Resource Support for OFE

The Faculty Association Budget Committee met with David Jaffee, PhD, Assistant Vice President of Undergraduate Studies, on May 21, 2008 to discuss potential budget cuts in OFE.  According to David, OFE’s budget for the upcoming year less any budget cuts to date is $25,334. The Faculty Association Budget Committee in its minutes stated that OFE has a track record of providing high quality, cost effective services to all faculty at UNF, and the Faculty Association Budget Committee recommends that OFE’s budget not be reduced beyond the level noted above.  It is the Committee’s belief that OFE’s services become even more critical in periods of budget austerity due to increased faculty turnover, larger class size and higher teaching loads.

Action Items:

The following topics will be evaluated by the Faculty Association Budget Advisory Committee during the upcoming year.

  • Ongoing participation by the Chair of the Budget Committee on the UNF Budget Committee.
  • Analysis of proposed Florida SUS Budget reductions and UNF Budget reductions.
  • An analysis of support staff compensation as well as comparison to other Florida State Universities.
  • Follow on invitations to speakers to provide update on recent budget initiatives.

Issues to be Addressed:

The following are suggestions to be deliberated and monitored by the Faculty Association Budget Committee.

  • A status report on UNF Budget prospects by Legislative Affairs.
