The meeting was called to order at 3:30 PM in the Brooks College of Health building 39, room 4032B.

The topic of discussion at the meeting was President Delaney’s letter announcing possible budget reductions at the University of North Florida (Enclosure I). Additional information on the overall Florida State Universities 2008-2009 Budget cuts was discussed from Mark B. Rosenberg, Chancellor, Board of Governors (Enclosure 2).

The Campus Technology Committee notified the Faculty Budget Advisory Committee of a possible 60% cut in CIRT’s operating budget which represents a $14,000 cut from its current $24,000. Since CIRT has a track record of providing high quality and cost effective services to all faculty at UNF, the Faculty Association Budget Committee recommends that CIRT’s budget not be reduced. It is the Committee’s belief that CIRT’s services become even more critical in periods of budget austerity due to increased faculty turnover, larger class size, and higher teaching loads.

The next meeting of the Faculty Association Budget Advisory Committee is scheduled for Wednesday April 23, 2008 at 3:30 PM in the Brooks College of Health building 39, room 4032B. Janet Owens the Vice President for Government Affairs will be invited to discuss the Florida Legislative session.
