I am the incoming chair of the Campus Technology Committee of the Faculty Association and have been given your question that was asked at the June 7, 2012, Faculty Association meeting.
The particular manufacturer and models of grading machines dictate the specific scantron form that must be used on each respective machine. Most of the colleges and some departments have their own scantron grader machines, many of which differ in both functionality and cost. There is little or no coordination between colleges/departments when a scantron grader is purchased and no effort is made to select a common scantron machine. The goal of each department/college when purchasing a machine is to meet the needs of their faculty and fit the cost of the machine into their respective budgets.
If SGA is willing to fund the replacement all of the grader machines on campus, I am sure the respective users of the machines will be willing to consider this option in order to standardize to one form. I will also get that information for you from our faculty tech department for the actual number of machines and the cost of replacing all of the grader machines.
I hope this helps.
