Dr. Mina Baliamoune-Lutz joined the University of North Florida in fall 2000. She has and MBA and a Ph.D. in Economics from Northeastern University. In spring 2007, she was a Visiting Scholar at Boston University. She is a recipient of the UNF Outstanding Faculty Scholarship and Outstanding Undergraduate Teaching Awards (2009), the Outstanding Faculty Service Award (2010), and the Outstanding International Leadership Award (2011). She has been appointed a Kip Distinguished Research Fellow of Economics (2010-2013). Baliamoune-Lutz is a Research Fellow at the International Centre for Economic Research in Italy and was a Research Fellow at the United Nations World Institute for Development Economics Research in Helsinki, Finland in 2002. |

Baliamoune-Lutz currently teaches international trade, macroeconomics, and the study-abroad economics (in Brazil) course at the undergraduate level, and economic policy and the global economy at the graduate level. In the past she has taught several other courses including the study-abroad course in Brazil at the graduate level, and contemporary international economic issues to students in International studies, and mathematical economics. In addition, she taught courses in international economics and the global economy at Universidad Austral (Agribusiness MBA and Executive MBA), Argentina (August 2010 and May 2011), the European Business School in Paris (December 2007), and Ecole Supérieure de Gestion, in Paris (May 2002). She also taught in the UNF-CCB program in Kingston, Jamaica (fall 2002). |

Baliamoune-Lutz’s research primarily tries to address this question: Can policy and institutional reforms cause growth and development, and improve human well-being? During her tenure at UNF, she has published 50 scholarly articles, 33 of which are in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. She has 9 chapters in high-quality books published by leading publishers, including Oxford University Press and Palgrave Macmillan. In addition, she co-edited a book and 7 conference proceeding volumes. Her publications also include 3 Book Reviews and many working and discussion papers. Baliamoune-Lutz’s empirical work on the effects of policy and institutional reforms has received significant international recognition. She is a regular contributor to research themes at the UN World Institute of Development Economics, the UN Economic Conference on Africa, and the African Development Bank. Her Research/Working Papers are published at UN-WIDER, ICER (Italy); Universität Bonn(Germany); University of Massachusetts, and the William Davidson Institute/University of Michigan She also has contributed (by invitation) a background paper on ‘the making of gender equality in Tunisia’ in the World Bank’s 2012 World Development Report. Her most recent RePEc (Research Papers in Economics) rank for the number of distinguished works (weighted by number of authors) is in the top 9%, and her overall rank among 129 registered economists in the State of Florida is 23rd., placing her in the top quintile. As of February 2012, she remains the only female economist on the RePEc list of the top economists in Florida. According to Harzing (www.harzing.com), she currently has 513 citations, including 96 citations for her single-authored article in Information Technology for Development (2003). It is the second most cited article among single-authored articles published since 2000 by current Coggin faculty. |

Baliamoune-Lutz served as faculty advisor for Students in International Business Club for 5 years and has been the faculty advisor for the Theta Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon since 2006. She served as chair of the Research Committee (2005-06) and the Nominations and Elections Committee (2009-10). She also served on various other University and faculty Association Committees. She organized and chaired the Annual International Business Research Conference (co-sponsored by the Coggin College of Business and the School of Management at Warsaw University) for 6 years (2002-2007). In addition, she has an extensive record of service to the national and international community and to the Economics Profession. She is President-elect (2012-2014) of the African Finance and Economics Association (AFEA), Associate Editor of the Journal of African Development, the Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences, and Information Technology for Development. She currently serves on the Editorial Board of Feminist Economics, the Journal of Business and Behavioral Sciences, and the Journal of Business and Accounting, and on the Board of Directors of the Eastern Economic Association.
