This is my response to Scott Hochwold’s question posed in the November 5th Faculty Association meeting.
Dr. Hochwold’s Question:
Scott Hochwald said that the deadline for research proposals was upon us and he discovered there are all kinds of requirements for formatting the proposals. Apparently, the Research Committee has declared that it will not consider any proposals that do not meet the formatting requirements. Scott requested the requirements be relaxed, as he does not believe faculty members’ hard work should just be discounted.
My response:
I did not respond at the time the question was asked, because the grant deadline had passed and grants were in the process of being reviewed using the published guidelines for the grant applications. The Research Committee worked very hard on the Guidelines to amplify and clarify all guidelines for the Grant Applications prior to their being sent out to the academic community. The Research Committee believes that it is incumbent on persons interested in obtaining funding from any source to be cognizant of and adhere to the published guidelines for that particular grant application. Kathy Bloom, Chair, Research Committee
Thanks,
Kathy
