Percentage Increase in Faculty Salary (between 1997 and 2008) |
| |
|
Salary increases for both Professors and Associate Professors at UNF are nine percentage points (9%) less
than their counterparts across the SUS, resulting in the widening gaps observed in the previous data. |
|
Assistant Professors at UNF had an average of a 55% increase between 1997 and 2008, about the same
level
as the SUS average (54%). As a result, the large gap (~14%) between UNF and the SUS remains
almost unchanged. |
|
As a general remark, we are falling further behind in faculty salaries overall. |

2007-2008 Expenditure Analysis |
| |
Below is the percentage of the E&G budget expenditures spent in each of the following categories across the SUS
during the budget year 2007-2008. |
| |
Instruction and Research |
|
The data for 1996-97 are also shown for comparison. |
|
UNF (60%) is slightly below the SUS average of 65% for 2007-08. Both averages are similar to their
1996-97 values. |
| |
|
| |
Research |
|
UNF spends 6.3% of the total E&G budget on research. This is below the SUS average of 10.7%. |
|
Excluding FSU, UF, UCF, and USF, UNF has the second highest percentage spending behind FAU. |
| |
|

UNF (6.6%) is below the SUS average (7.9%). It is the 4th lowest among the 11 universities. |
| |
|
| |

Enrollment-related activities include library resources, library staffing, university support, financial aid,
and student services. |

|
Universities with larger enrollments tend to have smaller percentage expenses in this category. |
|

the 11 universities in SUS. |
| |
|
| |
|
| |
2007-2008 Expenditure per Student Full-Time Equivalent |
| |
Expenditure on Instruction per FTE |
|
UNF spends 2% more per undergraduate student FTE on instruction than the SUS average. |
|
UNF spends 17% less per graduate student FTE on instruction than the SUS average. The large difference
may be due to the smaller percentage of Ph.D. students at UNF. |
|
Overall, UNF spends 12% less per FTE on instruction than the SUS average. It is the second lowest among
11 SUS universities. |
| |
|
| |
Total Expenditure per FTE |
|
This graph was constructed assuming that each University allocates a percentile of their total budget per
grad/undergrad student similar to that of their Instruction expenses. |
|
UNF spends 2%, 20%, and 16% less than the SUS averages per undergraduate, graduate, and overall FTE,
respectively. UNF has the lowest overall per FTE spending in the SUS. |
