BS - Athletic Training Major

Summary of the Changes:
We are requesting replacement of the degree wording for the Athletic Training Education Program (ATEP) from Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with a major in Athletic Training to Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Athletic Training. This change will allow the ATEP to meet “Standard 1- Athletic Training Major” required by our accrediting body, the commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education Programs (CAATE).

BSH - Health Science Major
Community Health Track – Aging/Adult Studies Minor

Summary of the Changes:
Currently, the Community Health Track offers 3 minors that students may choose from: (1) Aging/Adult Studies, (2) Health Education, and (3) Exercise Science.
We are requesting to delete the Aging/Adult Studies Minor, primarily due to a lack of student interest. Of the 220 currently enrolled Community Health students this Spring 2007, only 13 are seeking the Aging/Adult Studies Minor (96 students are seeking the Health Education Minor, and 111 are seeking the Exercise Science Minor). The students currently seeking the Aging/Adult Studies minor will continue and earn this minor, however no new students will be admitted into this minor effective Fall 2007.
Note: The program of study is attached. Only 1 course in this minor is offered through our program, HSC 4563. We will continue to offer this course as it is also required as part of the Health Education minor. All other courses in this minor are offered through other programs and will not be affected.
