Summary of Change:
The Bachelor of Music is the primary professional degree offered for music majors. We currently offer a achelor of Music in Jazz Studies, Classical Voice, Piano, Woodwinds, Brass and Percussions. This proposed String track represents a natural expansion of our music degree offerings. The creation of a full array of Bachelor of Music degree offerings has been suggested by our accrediting agency, the National Association of Schools of Music. (NASM) The proposed string track is modeled after the existing Bachelor of Music tracksand totals 120 credit hours. No new resources or faculty are needed for the track.

  BA - Music Major

MUN2XXX: UNF WIND ENSEMBLE (LOWER) (1 credit hour) and MUN 3XXX: UNF WIND ENSEMBLE (Upper) (1 credit hour) will become the primary large ensemble requirement for all woodwind, brass and percussion majors.
Summary of Change:
While not adding any credits to the POS, the audition requirement will determine whether these majors and non-majors perform in either the Wind Ensemble or the Concert Band (MUN 2120, 3123). The Wind Ensemble will be dedicated to the most experienced performers and the Concert Band will function as the next group in line of succession. Either group will remain as an appropriate large ensemble credit.
