Reorganization of the Division of Educational Services and Research
In the College of Education and Human Services

The faculty in the Division of Educational Services and Research request to reorganize the division into two departments: The Department of Counseling and Educational Leadership and the Department of Special Education. The plan for this reorganization originated with faculty in the division and was developed through a faculty ad hoc committee.

The plan was approved unanimously by faculty in the Division of Educational Services and Research at their faculty meeting on October 1, 2002, and was approved, also unanimously, by the College of Education Faculty Assembly on December 6, 2002. The reorganization has Dean Katherine Kasten's enthusiastic support. The plan has been reviewed by Dr. Hank Camp, Interim Vice President for Academic Affairs, and has his support provided that the College can fund the associated costs from its own resources.

If approved, the College of Education plans to have the new departments begin operations on July 1, 2003, at the beginning of the new fiscal year.
