Changes in Health Science Minor
|
| This represents change in the program of study
for Health Science minor to reflect previously approved new
courses (HSC 3551 and HSC 4150) in the Community Health Program.
In order to improve the program, the Community Health major
updated courses and the program of study. These changes were
approved in 00-01. Two of the courses (HSC 3203 and HSC 4143)
required in the university-wide Health Science minor have been
discontinued effective Fall 01 (NOTE: APC 2 forms were filed
and approved previously). Therefore, the program of study for
the minor needs to reflect the new courses. |

Changes in Sports Medicine/
Athletic Training Track
|
|
This is a change in program of study to reflect
course changes previously approved for the Community Health
Program. In order to update the program, the Community Health
Program initiated a number of course changes that were approved
during the 00-01 academic year. Although the program of study
for Community Health was changed, two of the courses (HSC
3551 and HSC 4150) are required in the SM-AT program. Two
of the courses (HSC 3203 and HSC 4143) have been discontinued
effective Fall 01 (NOTE: APC 2 forms were filed and approved
previously). Therefore, the program of study for SM-AT majors
needs to reflect the addition of these two courses.

Changes in Master of Health
(Requirements and course descriptions)
|
|
Program changes are implemented to meet recommendations
by the program's accrediting body and to modify curriculum
to address health industry changes. Changes include the addition
of a course (MAN 6315 Adv. Human Resource Mgt.) to the required
course section, addition of two existing courses (PAD 5605
Administrative Law and PAD 6612 Regulatory Admin) to the list
of elective options and modification of course descriptions
(for HAS 6126 Managed Health Care, HAS 6427 Health Law Trends
Seminar, and HAS 6197 Health System Analysis) which are needed
to reflect updated course content. Program changes also include
elimination of the 3-hour field study as an alternative to
the practicum or thesis option.

Changes
in Health Administration Track Minors |
|
This proposal includes program changes designed
to simplify the current curriculum and correct deficiencies
identified in a recent program review. Changes include the
elimination of the four minors (business Administration, Public
Administration, Long Term Care Administration, and Managed
Care), the addition of four new courses
(HAS 3XXX Quality Management in Health Care, HAS 4XXX Health
Administration Internship, HAS 4XXX Long Term Care Administration
Internship, and HAS 4XXX Senior Project), several courses
were changed from electives in previous minors to a "major
requirement" and other courses from the minors were moved
to the "elective category". This proposal also includes
the addition of an internship requirement (HAS 4XXX Health
Administration Internship). These changes are being made in
order to meet national standards for program certification
set by the Association of University Program sin Health Administration
(AUPHA)

Projects
|
|
This is a request to change from not repeatable to repeatable.
This course is used as the culminating experience for students
in the MSH and MPH programs. It builds on the knowledge and
skills gained in other required courses in the curriculum,
and requires an extensive project be completed. Dependent
upon each student's project, it is often necessary for students
to enroll over 2 or more consecutive semesters in order to
finish the project, hence the request for it to be designated
as a repeatable course. However, some students will enroll
for more than 3 hours in one semester in order to complete
the project, hence the need to keep it a variable credit course
as well.
