Change current "free" elective to an elective within the College of Health course offerings. With the current knowledge explosion in the health care field, there are many areas that are not covered in the required program of study. The faculty believes that students will be better served if their elective course is in the health care field as well.

Graduate

02-002        APC 3                                   MSN: Nursing
Add a new track (RN to MSN) to allow carefully selected RN students who do not possess a BSN to fast-track into the MSN program. This new track will help meet current demands for nurses with advanced educational preparation. After careful reflection, the Department of Nursing Graduate Council has determined that an RN to MSN track could benefit students who do not have a BSN and who meet specific criteria. These students would be carefully selected and their progress monitored. Other programs throughout the state of Florida are offering this type of track. This addition is necessary in order to meet current demands for nurses with advanced educational preparation. The program of study is designed such that students wishing or needing switch to the RN-BSN program during the first year of study can do so without jeopardizing their ability to successfully complete the requirements for a BSN.
