Recommendation: Statement of Good Standing

Proposed Statement for Undergraduate Catalog

Good Academic Standing (to be inserted after Academic Progress, page 29)

Undergraduate students who possess both a cumulative and current term UNF grade point average of 2.0 or above (College of Education and Human Services students need grade point average of 2.5 or above) are considered to be in "good academic standing."

Proposed Statement for the Graduate Catalog

Good Academic Standing (to be inserted after Satisfactory Academic Progress, page 20)

Graduate students who possess a cumulative UNF grade point average of 3.0 or higher are considered to be in "good academic standing."

Rationale: Students must be informed of the standards required to maintain academic progress towards their degree. A definition of "good standing" is important for scholarship, financial aid, insurance, some volunteer programs, internships, co-operative education experiences, honors, etc. Some of the reasons it is important to specify the criteria for "good standing" in the University Undergraduate and Graduate Catalog are:

             1. SUS institutions require that students are deemed as being in good standing for                admissions purposes.

             2. Automatic readmission to UNF for inactive students also requires that they
               were previously in good standing.
