The request is for a change in name, and does not include a request or a need for additional funds. The Department Chair would also have a change in title to Director (again without request for a change in salary). The School would remain under the College of Health jurisdiction. The change in name does not entail any changes to admission criteria or programs of study.

Rationale for change:

The change in title would bring UNF's nursing program into line with the other nursing programs in the state of the same size and complexity. While the change could be considered "cosmetic" in that it does not entail additional funds, additional faculty, changes in programs of study or admission requirements, etc., the change will enhance the image of UNF's nursing program within the city and the state. Further, this move will be breaking ground for other programs within the University to seek this designation.

This request has been unanimously approved by the College of Health Faculty.
