Co requisites: Transition Concepts
This course is the clinical companion course for Transition Concepts I.  In this course the learner will use the nursing process to promote the health of individuals, families, and aggregates within a community. No new faculty needed nor resources needed.

Co requisites: Transition Concepts II
This is the clinical companion course for Transition Concepts II.  In this course the learner will use the nursing process to promote the health of vulnerable individuals, families, and aggregates within a community. No new faculty needed nor resources needed.

Transition Concepts II (3 credit hours)

Prerequisites: Transition Concepts I and Transition Clinical I
Co requisites: Transition Clinical II
This course is the second of three courses designed to serve as a transition for the registered nurse in the professional nursing curriculum.  The course will explore issues and concepts related to professional nursing roles and practice, including concepts for delivery of nursing care to at risk patients, families, and aggregates.  The course emphasizes factors that affect the optimal health and well being of vulnerable individuals, families, and communities with a special emphasis on information required for assessment and health promotion of those coping with chronic illness or disease. No new faculty needed nor resources needed.

Transition Concepts I (3 credit hours)

Prerequisites: Admission to the RN to BSN program
Co requisites: Transition Clinical I
This course is the first of three courses designed to serve as a transition for the registered nurse in the professional nursing curriculum.  The course will explore issues and themes related to professional nursing roles and practice, including concepts for delivery of care to patients and families in diverse communities.  The course emphasizes factors that affect the health and well being of individuals, families, and communities with a focus on information required for assessment of families and communities. No new faculty needed nor resources needed.

Nursing Concepts: Professional Concepts and Practice

This is a request to terminate NUR 3706.  The RN-BSN curriculum is being revised to keep pace with changes in the field.  The relevant content from this course will be integrated into four new courses: Transition Concepts I, Transition Concepts II, Transition Clinical I, and Transition Clinical II.

This a request to: (a) add 11 new courses - Transition Concepts I, Transition Concepts II, Transition Clinical I, Transition Clinical II, Nursing Science I, Nursing Science II, Nursing Science III, Applied Nursing Ethics, Transition Concepts III, Community and Society Policy, Directed Clinical Study; (b) delete seven courses - Nursing Process: Professional Concepts and Practices, Nursing Inquiry, Nursing Process: Families Across the Life Span, History, Issues, and Trends in Professional Nursing, Future of Professional Nursing, Nursing Practicum, Nursing Process: Community Health; and (c) change two courses - Nursing Leadership and Nursing Process: Health of the Individual.  Changes in the field of nursing demand changes in programs of study in order for students to remain on the cutting edge of the discipline. No new faculty needed nor resources needed.
