ITEM #3 -- FA 00-34: Submitted by the Academic Standards Committee

line
Academic Probation Policy:
Recommendation: Undergraduate students who fail to earn a cumulative or term average of 2.0 after attempting a cumulative total of 15 12 or more credit hours will be placed on academic probation and referred to an academic advisor.

Rationale: Concern over the current UNF policy (in the UNF Undergraduate Catalog 2000-2001 under Academic Progress) regarding academic probation. According to the current policy, an undergraduate student must attempt 15 hours at UNF before being reviewed for academic probation. A first semester student who only attempts 12 hours, which is full-time, automatically gets another semester before being reviewed for probation. Whereas a student who attempts 15 hours in the first term and falls below a 2.0 would be placed on probation.
