Three changes are requested: (a) Change the course title
to Pre-Practicum in Rehabilitation Counseling. This better
identifies the course as one in which skills are developed
for use in the practicum. (b) Change the number of hours
from two to three credits. The increase in hours will
allow sufficient time for students to learn the necessary
skills, as well as to practice them and receive instructor
feedback. (c) Change the course/catalog description to:
The purpose of this course is to teach students the basic
counseling skills necessary to become a proficient Rehabilitation
Counselor, and to provide them with an overview of, and
information about, a variety of Rehabilitation Counseling
agencies and sites so they may learn about the different
professional paths that exist in Rehabilitation Counseling
and to help them select a site for their practicum. This
course is also intended to educate students about issues
of ethics and diversity in the Rehabilitation Counseling
profession.
These changes will require no new faculty or resources.
