This proposal concerns the addition of a Professional Health Studies track to the Bachelor of Science in Health Degree, Health Science major.  This proposal reflects the UNF College of Health response to state approval to develop capstone degree options that would allow A.S. degree graduates to transfer into B.S. programs.  The proposed Capstone track involves 42 hours of course work (27 hours of required courses and 15 hours of electives) in the College of Health. In addition, each student must complete 6 hours of upper division general education credit, for a total of 48 hours.  To enter the track, a student must have at least one of the designated health-related A.S. degrees from a State of Florida community college.  No new courses are proposed for this track.  No additional resources are needed.

Graduate

00-319 APC 3   Masters of Public Health,
      Community Public Health Track

This request is to change admission requirements for the Community Public Health Practice track in the MPH program.  Students would need to comply with the following admission standards:

In addition to satisfying general University criteria for admission into a graduate program, the following are required for admission to the Masters of Public Health program: a grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B) or higher on all work attempted as an upper-division student, normally 60 semester hours taken during the last two years of undergraduate study, AND a GRE score taken within the past five years with a minimum combined score of 1000 on the verbal and quantitative sections.  In cases where either the GPA or GRE criteria are not met, the MPH program will accept a combination of the two equaling 2200 or greater based on the formula GPA x 400 + GRE score.

GRE scores are mandatory and must be received prior to being fully admitted into the graduate program.  Students who have already earned a graduate degree from UNF or another institution may be able to waive the GRE requirement.  In addition to the above stated admission requirements, students must have an undergraduate degree supporting graduate study in Community Public Health Practice.  Students not satisfying the latter condition may be admitted only after arranging with the MPH program director for a program of study that will remove the deficiencies.
