00-073 APC 2 PSY 4304 Psychological Testing

This change involves a change in wording of the course description. The word "shaping" is changed to "uses." The change clarifies the goals of the course. Also, the phrase "this course is..." is added to make a complete sentence. The new course description reads, "Prerequisites: STA 2014, PSY 3214 and PSY 3214L. This course is an introduction to the development, interpretation, and uses of psychological tests and to the value and potential dangers inherent in their applications. Statistical and psychological concepts necessary for the interpretation of test scores are emphasized."

00-074 APC 3 Changes in the Catalog Copy for the BA Degree in Psychology

The changes requested are as follows: (a) A sentence will be added to the catalog description that makes it clear to students that they may take Experimental Courses and Foundation Courses as Major Electives in addition to those specifically listed under that category. The new catalog copy will read, "A student may take extra Experimental Courses and Foundation Courses in addition to those required for the major, and these extra courses can be counted as major electives (the same course may not be counted twice however to fulfill these major requirements)." (b) An error in the course number for Sensory Perception in the list of foundation courses will be corrected. The change will be from EXP 3930 to EXP 3105. (c) PCO 2714, Personal Growth, will be removed from the list of Major Electives because it is not a 3000-4000 level course. (d) EXP 3503, Cognitive Psychology, will be removed from the list of Major Electives because it is a Foundation Course. (e). The number of variable credits for PSY 4945 will be changed from 1-2 to 1-3. (f) The name of EXP 3540C will be changed. No new faculty needed. No resources needed.

00-110 APC 3 Add a B.S. degree in Psychology.
The Department of Psychology has developed a new program for a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Degree in Psychology. Thus students can choose to pursue either the B.A. or the B.S. degree. Recommended for students who intend to participate in Department productions. This course may be repeated for up to six (6) credits. No new faculty needed. No resources needed.

00-105 APC 2 TPP 2110 Theater Workshop

This course is being deleted for the following reasons: (1) A theater course at the 2000 level has not adequately served the needs of the English-Drama Track or the Drama Minor. (2) As a result of statewide changes in the numbering system, termination of this course makes the English-Drama track consistent with the recent changes in the basic English track of the major.

00-106 APC 2 LIT 4041 Studies in Drama
This request is to delete two phrases from the course description "designed to correlate with a UNF production" and "a production course." The reason for these deletions is limited faculty resources. The Department is unable to consistently offer LIT 4041 during the same semester as it offers its Major production course. Thus, it is not feasible for this course "to correlate with a UNF production." The new catalog copy reads, "This course focuses on an historical or artistic problem or a period, style, or playwright, including reading and acting scenes. Topic varies. The course may be repeated for up to six (6) credits with different topics."

00-107 APC 2 LIT 3045 Periods of Dramatic Literature
This is to request a title change for this course from "History of Dramatic Literature" to "Periods of Dramatic Literature" and a change in course description. The previous title and description suggested an all-inclusive, comprehensive survey of all dramatic literature, which is not possible to deliver in one semester. By altering the title, the course can focus on selected periods in the history of drama. The new course description reads, " This is a survey of select periods in the development of Western drama from the Greeks to the Twentieth Century. Students will evaluate how historical events shaped the formation of dramatic literature while reading the works of such dramatists as Sophocles, Shakespeare, Congreve, or Lorca."

00-108 APC 2 LIT 3045 Modern and Contemporary Drama
This is to request a title change for this course from "Modern Drama" to "Modern and Contemporary Drama" and a change in course description. The changes reflect current understanding of dramatic canon, expanding the focus to include the later part of the Twentieth century. The new course description reads, "This course will examine European and American drama of the Twentieth century. It begins with the founders of modern drama, Ibsen, Chekhov, and Strindberg, moves through those who experimented with realism such as Beckett or Baraka, and ends with contemporary works by Shephard and Churchill."

00-109 A APC 3 Restructure the English-Drama Major and Minor Tracks
The Department of English and Foreign Languages requires courses in each of the following categories: literary interpretation, literary periodization, literature in kind, literature in context, and literary medium. The proposed restructuring of the English-Drama track enables students to meet these requirements. Three new courses (Play Production, Acting Workshop, & Playwright's Project) will be added, three courses (Studies in Drama, Modern and Contemporary Drama, & History of Dramatic Literature) changed, and 1 course (Theater Workshop) deleted. Within the minor, minor requirements have changed from 9 hours to 9-10 hours and total program hours changed from 15 to 15-16 hours. No new faculty needed. No resources needed.

00-109 B APC 3 Restructure the English-Drama Major and Minor Tracks
The Department of English and Foreign Languages requires courses in each of the following categories: literary interpretation, literary periodization, literature in kind, literature in context, and literary medium. G. Department of Philosophy

00-253 APC 3 Change the B.A. degree in Philosophy.
To assist philosophy majors both in focusing their programs of study and in better relating their studies to career objectives, the Department permits students to group their elective courses around six programs of emphasis, or "tracks," which will be reflected on a student's transcript and diploma. Except for Track 1 "General Philosophical Studies," all tracks represent a specific sub field of philosophy. Students are under no obligation to select a particular track; those who make no selection will automatically be assigned to Track 1. Students in any track must complete all the courses required for the major. Students in Track 1 are free to select their 15 elective hours from any courses offered by the program; those in the other tracks must take at least 12 of their 15 elective hours in a particular track, and may take an additional elective in any other area. No change in program hours. No new faculty needed. No resources needed.

00-254 APC 3 Add three minors to the B.A. degree in Philosophy.
