UPPER DIVISION TRANSFER ADMISSION POLICIES AND
PROCEDURES
Rationale: Authority: State Board Rule 6C-6.004(1)-Transfer Students-Undergraduate (1) Each university shall develop admission policies governing the acceptance of undergraduate transfer students. Exceptions may be made on an individual basis when a student, in the judgment of an appropriate university committee, can reasonable be expected to do satisfactory academic work in the program and institution to which admission is sought. Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements. (a) Be in good standing and eligible to return to the last institution attended as a degree-seeking student, (b) A grade point average of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 system on all college-level academic courses attempted. Note: These procedures apply to applicants seeking admission to non-limited access programs. Limited access programs have established specific admission policies and procedures, so each college should have a copy of these guidelines available for inclusion in this document.
PROPOSED POLICY AND PROCEDURES: If an upper division student applies for admission and that applicant does not have a 2.0 overall transfer average and/or that applicant was not in good standing at his/her last institution, the Office of Admissions should refer the applicant's file to the appropriate college for an admission decision. Each college should have developed an internal policy and procedures for reviewing these applications. When the admission decision is made, the college informs the Office of Admissions and the applicant is informed of the decision in writing. If an applicant is denied, he/she should be referred to the appropriate college for admission counseling.
