A. Health Science/Physical Therapy

99-072      APC3      Master of Physical Therapy
To comply with the BOR guidelines, the current combined BSH/MSPT physical therapy program is being changed to a graduate physical therapy program culminating in the MPT. There will be 4 new courses, 22 course changes, and 10 course deletions. Student will need to apply for admission to the graduate school at UNF prior to admission to the physical therapy program.

99-073      APC1      PHT 511xC Human Anatomy (6)
This course provides a foundation in functional anatomy of the human body that will serve as a framework for subsequent applied science and clinical courses. The dissection laboratory will reinforce didactic material and enable the physical therapy student to learn three-dimensional relationships of structures within the body.

99-074      APC1      PHT 52xxC Clinical Examination and Intervention (3 cr)
This course focuses on physical therapy clinical examination and treatment intervention of individuals with neuromusculoskeletal dysfunction. Special areas of concentration include efficacy and progression of clinical and home exercise programs.

99-075      APC1      PHT 512xC Clinical Kinesiology (3 cr)
This course focuses on the applied study of human movement, integrating biomechanics, physics, geometry, and motion analysis. Clinical examination skills used in biomechanical and kinesiological clinical assessment of movement dysfunction are emphasized.

99-076      APC1      PHT 56xxC Clinical Inquiry (3 cr)
This course examines the relationship between research and clinical practice through exploration of elements of the research process and components of a research proposal. Focus will be on data collection and analysis appropriate to a clinical environment and to documenting functional outcomes. Selection of appropriate assessment and analysis tools for groups as well as individuals will be addressed, including use of national databases.

This course deals with the integration of didactic and psychomotor skills as applied to adult orthopedic, cardiac, and neurologic clinical patient simulated scenarios. The course will require the student to utilize information learned in previous and current physical therapy courses to evaluate and treat patients in progressively more complex situations.

Change level from 3 (three) to 5 (five). Change credit hours from 2 to 1. This course is designed to facilitate the integration of clinical skills taught in the academic setting and apply those skills in a clinical environment. Examination skills, intervention techniques, review of medical records, gait training, transfer techniques, patient management, communication sills and documentation skills will be emphasized.

99-090       APC2     PHT 5717 Advanced Rehabilitation Techniques
Change prerequisites to PHT5313C / PHT5721C. This course focuses on three areas of rehabilitation: orthotics, prosthetics, and industrial rehabilitation. Content includes proper fitting and training in the use of prosthetics and orthotics and concepts in selection and fabrication of these assistive devices. Governmental and administrative regulations related to industrial rehabilitation are emphasized. Lab activities will give the student hands-on experience in each of the three areas.

This course deals with the integration of didactic and psychomotor skills for all patient types with the addition of pediatric and orthopedic (spinal) clinical patient simulated scenarios. B. Health Science

This proposal is to delete the track because students did not utilize it.

99-140       APC3      Health Promotion/Health Education Specialization
This request is made to strengthen the present program by addressing new competencies for the certification of health education specialists at the graduate level. It includes a course deletion and a course change as well as several reclassifications (major requirement from core requirement, etc.)

99-141       APC2      HSC 6912 Projects (v. 3 - 9 cr)
This request is to change the amount of credit hours from v. 1-3 to v. 3-9. This will give students an opportunity to earn more course credit for the development of a rigorous final project.

99-142       APC1      HSC 6xxx Grantsmanship ( 3 cr)
This course will familiarize participants with the skills required to prepare grant requests and contract proposals for submission to public institutions and private foundations.
