APC Orientation Session
The APC and Academic Affairs are organizing an Orientation Session for key faculty members (e.g. chairpersons of curriculum committees) on curricular governance and the APC process. It will be held during the Fall semester of 2007.

APC Workflow Update
The APC and ITS (Information Technology Services) continue cooperating in the implementation of a web-based Workflow Management System (WfMS) which will automate the APC workflow. The current timeline plans three releases which will progressively incorporate each of the UNF colleges. It is estimated a beta version will be available to the UNF community in the fall of 2008. The WfMS is being implemented using Microsoft technologies such as Sharepoint Services, InfoPath forms, and the Windows Workflow Foundation Framework.

Important Notes on the APC Process
- In order for the APC to consider a request from a curricular unit, a representative from said unit is expected to be present at the corresponding APC meeting.

- The representative is responsible for taking notes associated with changes suggested by the committee, when the request is “approved with changes.”

- The representative is also responsible for seeing to it corrected forms are returned to the UNF Faculty Association Executive Secretary, Ms. Cindy Chin, within 2 business days after the meeting. Electronic copies, as well as two one-sided hard copies for all corrected forms are required. If there are any questions, representatives must contact Faculty Association Executive Secretary: Ms. Cindy Chin ( CChin@unf.edu), and/or the APC Chairperson ( APCChair@unf.edu).

- If the corrections are not submitted within 2 business days, as expected, the APC cannot guarantee the corresponding items will be added to the agenda items to be considered by the UNF faculty during the corresponding UNF Faculty Association meeting.

Additional Information
The APC will consistently request the following in connection with preparing APC forms:

- When a form requires attaching a copy of an existing program of study, said program should be obtained from Banner.

- When a form requests describing proposed textbooks or journals, APA/MLA formatting must be used. The UNF library has a citation handout at http://www.unf.edu/library/guides/citationguide.pdf This information will be added to the APC1 and APC2 form preparation guidelines.

- When a form requests describing methods of evaluation, said description should not be prescriptive. Examples of good descriptions include: "Letter Grades will be used", and "Pass/Fail will be used". The current APC form preparation guidelines are clear about this.
