Course Description:
This course provides students with an overview of the counseling and human development knowledge domains underlying rehabilitation counseling. These domains, which include human development theories, personal adjustment counseling, career counseling, multicultural counseling, family counseling, and consultation, are presented within the framework of the major theoretical approaches to counseling that relate specifically to people with disabilities. Basic techniques and selected professional issues related to rehabilitation counseling are presented. No new faculty or additional resources are required for this course.

Summary of the Changes:
The course (RCS 6XXX, Counseling/Develop. Theories & Techniques in Rehabilitation (3 cr hrs) is being added and will replace the course being removed as a requirement – MHS 6400-- Individual Counseling (3.0 credit hours). This is being done so the Counseling Theories Course will be more conceptually aligned with the specific earning needs of Rehabilitation Counseling Students (as opposed to the learning needs in other counseling disciplines). It is a simple exchange .
