Recommendation:
The faculty recommends that, at the next opportunity for bargaining, the Administration and the UNF Chapter of UFF seriously consider making the terminology used in Articles 18 – 21 (Performance Evaluations and P&T) consistent in describing the performance of a faculty member.
Rationale:
A faculty member’s annual performance evaluations serve as one of the major components of the promotion and tenure decision. The language in the Contract is not consistent, as illustrated below. The concern is this could lead to confusion and possible errors in interpretation, as a faculty member approaches and enters into the promotion and tenure process.

Disapproved by Provost Mark Workman on March 16, 2007 per Memorandum on 3/16/07:

I have disapproved the attached Agenda Item FA 07-09 because the matter is a subject for negotitations between the University Administratin and the United Faculty of Florida (as the certified bargaining agent for the faculty). Those negotitations must be conducted in strict compliance with the guidelines set forth in Chapter 447, Part II, Florida Statutes, and I have been advised that it would be in appropriate and contrary to those guidelines for the Administration to approve the recommendation as requested. However, I am forwarding the proposed reommendation to the cheif negotiators of the bargaining teams (i.e.,, Mr. Leonard Carson fro the UA and Dr. Cheryl Frohlich for the UFF) for their informatin and consideration.
