QUESTION SYNOPSIS-II:
Faculty and Staff Locker Room in the Arena
There is a rumor that the Faculty and Staff Locker Room in the Arena will be closed and be given to one of the Athletic Teams.
Please verify the accuracy of that rumor?
If accurate,
What team will get the locker room? How many athletes does it support? How many months a year does the team practice?
What other alternatives were considered for Student athlete team locker rooms such as Renovation/ Construction of additional locker rooms in the Aquatic Center and Arena to better meet the long needs of the Athletic program?
Why were the Faculty Association and the United Faculty of Florida not informed of the upcoming change?
As a matter of Information, the Faculty and Staff Locker Room in the Arena are currently used by 24 individuals who maintain permanent lockers. Additionally, it is used by numerous faculty and staff on a daily basis that use the racquetball courts, group fitness activities, aquatic center and bicycle into work.

QUESTION SYNOPSIS-III:
What dictator decreed that faculty must call the help desk in order to update their computer such as Windows and Acrobat updates and not be able to be administrators on their own computers? It is clear that this is a bad thing. Are there people who are exempt from this policy such as the President or Provost? Faculty cannot be trusted to maintain their own computers, so how can we get rid of this policy? Scott was told the right to administer his own computer would not happen.
Comment from Gordon Rakita: If faculty are allowed to become administrators, the C-techs
Should be made aware of this policy.
Response from Kathy Hughes: ITS will make sure this is done. |

QUESTION SYNOPSIS-V(a):
I submitted my book order in October. How come I was not told until December that the book
was not available?
QUESTION SYNOPSIS-V(b):
Why is the bookstore waiting until the holiday break (or the first day of classes) to advise faculty of problems with their book orders.
Book orders were submitted in October, but we are just now hearing of problems.
Further, the information from the Bookstore relative to the problems are incomplete, at best, and, more likely, inaccurate.
For example:
My order was placed on Oct 10 for two books. A phone message was left on the office manager’s phone over the holiday break to inform me Book#1 was “indefinitely” unavailable from the publisher, but they would be able get Book#2. What did I want to do?
Since Book#1 has been used for the past two terms, I responded via email on Dec 27 to put all the used books out on the shelves.
On the first day of class, students reported there were plenty of new & used Book#1 on the shelves, but Book#2 was not in evidence. Bookstore personnel reported told them the Bookstore was waiting to hear from the professor on what she wanted to do!
Similar first-day experiences were transmitted to me from others. |
