POLICE BEAT


1. April 10 - Petty theft (Library) - A student reported his textbook stolen. While studying in the library, the student went outside for a cigarette break. When he returned he noticed his textbook was missing. The book was not turned into lost and found, and there were no attempts to sell it back to the bookstore.

2. April 14 - Accidental injury (Lot 53) - Several men contacted UPD when they noticed a woman lying in the parking lot. The woman's face was bloody and there was a small pool of blood in the lot. The woman said she fell.

Rescue 50 responded and recommended the woman be transported to the hospital. She refused to go, and the officers helped her to her vehicle.

3. April 15 - Petty theft (Building 43) - A man reported two easels were stolen from the Institute of Police Technology and Management storage room. Officers performed a key audit and questioned some custodial staff, but there are no suspects at this time.

4. April 15 - Damaged property (Building Q) - A resident assistant contacted UPD regarding damaged property between two roommates. The students were arguing for a few days, and one student threatened his roommate. The victim went to a hotel to stay for the night, but when he returned the following day his skateboard, chair, closet rod, stereo and lamp were damaged. The victim refused to prosecute his roommate.

5. April 16 - Drug investigation (Building V) - After a health and safety check, two RAs found a water bong in a dorm room. They reported the incident to UPD and the paraphernalia was confiscated. The residents were not home at the time of the inspection but were referred to Student Conduct.

6. April 17 - Harboring a runaway (Lot 17) - An officer noticed a group of men acting suspiciously near Lot 17. After the officer followed them for a few minutes, the group entered a vehicle and attempted to leave campus. The officer stopped the car after the vehicle failed to come to a complete stop.

The officer smelled marijuana and asked for identification for all the occupants. One man didn't have an ID so he gave his name. A search revealed the man was a juvenile runaway. The officer proceeded to search the car, which revealed a glass pipe. The item was confiscated and the juvenile was transported the police station.

7. April 19 - Petty theft (Library) - A student reported her backpack stolen after she left her study table for five minutes to go to the restroom. There were no cameras in the area, and there are no suspects.

8. April 20 - Damaged property (Lot 12) - An officer responded to a report of damage to a vehicle. The victim said upon returning to her parked car, she noticed a large dent on the right side of the bumper. She said she was aware of a large commotion in the parking lot in the morning, but did not know who would purposely damage her car.
