POLICE BEAT

1. Oct. 13- Stolen laptop (Building 2) - An employee of Career Services reported that someone had stolen a laptop computer from a storage area. The victim said UNF employees had been working on the roof of the area. It was determined that no one was working during the time of the theft. The door was found locked, but the handicap access switch was powered on, allowing access to the area by pressing the button on the wall.
2. Oct. 15- Burglary (Building X) - Three female UNF residents were awoken at approximately 5:40 a.m. by two people that had illegally entered the room through an unlocked door and were removing items from one resident's desk. The residents asked who they were and the suspect replied that he was their friend. After it became clear that he was not who he reported to be, the residents chased the suspects out of the room and called the University Police Department. The suspects fled on foot toward Osprey Cove and a patrol of the area yielded no results. A digital camera and laptop computer were reported missing.
3. Oct. 16 - Criminal mischief (Building 41) - Two suspects pushed over Student Government election signs on the Green. The incident was reported for information purposes in case of further incidents.
4. Oct. 17 - Dispute - (Lot 12) - A student contacted UPD after his ex-girlfriend tried to remove his license plate from his car and grabbed at his shirt, leaving a visible red mark on his chest. A check was run on the ex-girlfriend, revealing local warrants for worthless checks. The suspect was arrested and transported to Duval County jail and issued a trespass warrant.
5. Oct. 17 - Attempted abduction - (Lot 2) - A witness observed four males dressed in all black exiting a car and forcing a male into the trunk of their vehicle. The suspects were stopped and removed from the vehicle at gunpoint. After being interviewed, the suspects revealed that the incident was a prank. The seriousness of the prank was explained to the suspects and they were released at the scene. All students were referred to Student Conduct.
6. Oct. 18 - Stolen Parking decal (Lot 18) - A student reported a missing parking decal after returning to his car after classes. The student said the doors had been left unlocked.
7. Oct. 18 - Dispute (Lot 2) - An employee of Parking Services reported that after she asked the occupant of an illegally parked vehicle to move, she became belligerent and used profanity in a threatening manner.
The license plate of the car was obtained and the occupant was interviewed at the police department, where she admitted to the altercation.
8. Oct. 18 - Stolen property
(Building 41) - After a pickup basketball game, a student went to retrieve his wallet that had been placed on the side of the court during the game and found it was missing.
9. Oct. 18 - Alcohol under 21 (Building X) - A resident assistant noticed several people entering a room and investigated a possible violation of occupancy.
Upon entering the room, the RA found six cans of beer. The beer was poured out and the occupants of the room were referred to Student Conduct.
10. Oct. 18 - Missing property (Building 14) - After eating at the cafeteria, a student forgot his wallet on his dinner tray and put it into the dishwashing window.
After returning to find the wallet, the dishwasher said he had not seen it. A search of the garbage cans yielded negative results.
11. Oct. 19 - Stolen property (Building R) - A bicycle was
reported stolen after it went
missing from the bike rack in front of the building.
The victim reported that the bicycle had been left unsecured.
