POLICE BEAT


1. Sept. 17 - Sick person (Building 2) - A University of North Florida student contacted UPD, complaining of chest pains.

Paramedics arrived and transported him to Baptist Medical Center Beaches for treatment.

2. Sept. 18 - Lost property (UPD Station) - A woman reported her parking decal missing.

The woman was unsure of where she lost the decal and said the last time she saw it was the day before in Lot 18.

The doors to her vehicle were unlocked.

3. Sept. 18 - Dispute over umbrella (UPD Station) - A woman had a confrontation with a UNF Housing Maintenance employee over an umbrella.

The employee allegedly grabbed the woman's arm and attempted to take the umbrella from her, claiming it was his.

The woman tried to prove the umbrella was hers, but the employee continued to follow her and make statements about reporting the dispute to UPD.

The woman was advised to call UPD if there were any more encounters.

4. Sept. 18 - Stolen parking decal (Lot 2) - A student left his parking decal in the rear-view mirror of his vehicle and went into the library to study.

When he returned 45 minutes later, the decal was missing, and the doors were unlocked.

5. Sept. 18 - Alcohol under 21 (Building Q) - Two resident assistants found a beer funnel and 11 cans of Natural Light beer in the refrigerator of a student's dorm room.

The alcohol was disposed of, and the resident was referred to Student Conduct.

6. Sept. 18 - Altered parking decal (Lot 3) - UPD placed a boot on the car of a student who had altered her 2006 decal to read 2008. When the student returned to the vehicle, she admitted to changing the decal.

She was issued a notice to appear.

7. Sept. 18 - Alcohol under 21 (Building Q) - Two RA's found a 1.75-liter bottle of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum during a health and safety check of a dorm room.

The residents were not present, and the alcohol was disposed of.

The students were referred to Student Conduct.

8. Sept. 19 - Resisting arrest (Lot 17) - A UPD officer spotted two students in a parking lot. When they saw the officer, they ran into the woods. One student stopped and identified himself to the officer, while the other kept running. The student said they were trying to locate a 12-pack of Natural Light they had hidden in the woods.

The student who ran was later arrested for resisting an officer without violence, and the student who stopped was referred to Student Conduct.

The beer was never located.

9. Sept. 19 - Alcohol under 21 (Building Y) - UPD officers stopped two students for carrying alcohol.

The students were seen carrying an empty bag to a vehicle and returning to the dorms with a bag that looked as if it was full of beer.

The students admitted to owning the alcohol, which was comprised of 12 bottles of Yuengling and 12 bottles of Bud Light beer.

The students were referred to Student Conduct.
