Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity is facing nine charges and 39 indictments after
throwing a private social event in Deland late January.
The fraternity rented three charter buses and hired a band, along with alcohol
provided by a third party vendor, according to SAE Chapter President Stephen
Horne. Photos of the event were posted on Facebook, and when the Interfraternity
Council saw it, SAE went to trial Feb. 14 for indictments including underage
drinking and possession of kegs.
“People are going to drink, but you just don’t want to be posting it online,”
said James Graulich, attorney general of IFC. “It’s against risk management
policy.”
