Intramurals: A way to ‘shake it like a salt shaker’

Are you looking for somewhere to shake what your momma gave you other than the club?

If so, there are amazing opportunities to shake your groove thing playing intramural sports here at the University of North Florida.

There are a variety of sports including volleyball, soccer, flag football, basketball and softball, with smaller tournaments on the side such as dodgeball and Frisbee.

Many freshman are leaving home for the first time and most are nervous about whether they will make friends right away or if they are going to get swirlies from upper-class bullies.

off the field with...   Ian Bartlett,
freshman defender on the men’s soccer team

By Alli Reiss

What does a surfer from St. Augustine do when he’s not riding the waves or soakin’ up the sun?

Well, if you’re Ian Bartlett, you spend your time doing one of two things — playing soccer or checking Facebook.com.

His time on the soccer field has been well spent. In 2002 Bartlett won All-State honors. He also won All-Country honors in 2001 and 2002 while playing for Northgate High School in Newman, Ga.
