A spectacle of the skies

The Jacksonville Sea and Sky Spectacular lit up the sky over Jacksonville’s beaches the weekend of Nov. 4. The air show featured an array of different aircraft and U.S. Navy equipment. The highlight of the show was a performance by the famous U.S. Blue Angels, but the event also featured different military and civilian aircraft teams and a demonstration of an amphibious landing.

 

Reputation of crime shadows apartment complex

With the recent murder of a University of North Florida student and 348 police reports filed this year, the New Melrose Student Suites on Kernan Boulevard are gaining a reputation for more than reasonable rental rates.

The apartments are 90 percent occupied by college students, mainly from UNF and Florida Community College at Jacksonville.

“I witnessed people shooting at each other by building three,” said Erika Sexson, a sophomore art and English major who moved into Melrose in August.
