Thousands of Florida Gator and Georgia Bulldog fans travel to Jacksonville each year for the Florida-Georgia game, producing more than $20 million during the college football weekend.

With the recent passing of her 20th birthday, University of North Florida English major Kristina Circelli not only celebrates another candle on the cake, but celebrates another literary accomplishment with the release of her second novel.

“The Iron Fist” is the sequel to Circelli’s first novel, “The Helping Hands,” which follows a gang of friends, dubbed the Helping Hands, who kidnap children from abusive homes, saving them from their lives of pain. The second book of a four-part series, “The Iron Fist” follows Melanie O’Connor, the reformed rebel and leader of the Helping Hands, who has to decide between her new life of peace and security and her old life of the gang and its cause.

By Jenna Strom
Assistant Features Editor

Eight students from the University of North Florida aided victims in Biloxi, Pascagoula and Ocean Springs, Miss., the weekend of Sept. 16 — after the tragic effects of Hurricane Katrina devastated millions in three states.

“We went into a house that looked totally intact from the outside,” said Director of Baptist Collegiate Ministry Ben Smith, who participated in the relief effort.
