Jan. 25 - A vending machine in Osprey Cove (Bldg. V) was broken into. It has not been determined how much money was stolen and the case is still under investigation. It was reported that sometime between Jan. 24 and Jan. 25 a car belonging to a student which was parked in Lot 15 was damaged by a blue liquid substance, suspected to be ink poured on the hood of the vehicle. There are no known suspects. A vending machine in Y Building was broken into. An unknown amount of food and money were stolen. The case is under investigation. A fire alarm went off at the Crossings (Bldg. Q). The officer arrived and was met by the RA. They proceeded to the room where the alarm indicated smoke and could smell smoke from outside the door. After attempts to get someone to the door, the RA opened the door and the empty room was filled with smoke. After entering, there was no indication of fire or danger. Jan. 26 - An officer responded to a fire alarm at the Crossings (Bldg. R) to find that a fire extinguisher in the second floor hallway had been discharged, leaving a powder chemical covering numerous pieces of upholstered furniture. There was also damage to several plants in the atrium lobby. All occupants were evacuated at the time of the alarm, but none could give any information on suspects. Jan. 28 - A construction worker reported a theft from his parked vehicle in Lot 14, leaving his sandwich and cell phone in the vehicle. Upon returning for lunch, he got in his car and proceeded to Lot 6. Upon arriving, he realized his cell phone was missing. Jan. 29 - Sometime between Jan. 27 and Jan. 29, a fuse box was stolen off of a motorcycle parked on the third floor of the garage (Bldg. 44). There are no known suspects. An officer was dispatched to the Crossings (Bldg. S) concerning harassing telephone calls. Upon arrival, the officer reported that there had been three harassing/obscene phone calls over the past three weeks. A suspect was determined through caller ID and the case is under investigation. Jan. 30 - A report of a theft to a vending machine at Osprey Cove (Bldg. U). The case is currently under investigation. Jan. 31 - There was a report of a hit-and-run traffic accident in the garage (Bldg. 38). A vehicle legally parked on the second level was struck by an unknown vehicle. There were no witnesses. There was a report of the theft of a license plate, which occurred sometime between Jan. 30 and Jan. 31. An unknown person or persons forcefully removed a personal license plate that was gold with blue Sigma Chi Greek letters from a student's vehicle parked in Lot 17. No further information was available. A traffic accident was reported involving a delivery van attempting to back into the loading dock of Building 6 that scraped a pole. There was no damage to the pole and minor damage to the van. There was a report of a stolen parking decal from a student's vehicle parked in Lot 4. There are no known suspects. A report of a criminal mischief was received. Officer was advised by a student residing at the Landing that an unknown person or persons destroyed the four 3.5-inch computer disks. The investigation is pending. It was reported through the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office that a motorcycle was stolen. Upon investigation, the missing motorcycle was discovered on the third floor of the garage (Bldg. 44). The motorcycle was processed for evidence and the owner was left a message about where he could pick up his recovered motorcycle. The registered owner was not a resident of Jacksonville.
