FIRSTCOAST COMMUNITYAIDSPREVENTION PARTNERSHIPThe Health Planning Council of Northeast Florida provides technical assistance and staff support to the First Coast Community AIDS Prevention Partnership (FCCAPP). FCCAPP is a group of committed individuals from the greater Jacksonville area that includes the counties of Baker, Clay, Duval, Nassau, and St. Johns who have come together to combat the spread of HIV/AIDS. FCCAPP is a partnership between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Florida Department of Health, and the community. FCCAPP’s purpose is to develop the HIV Prevention Plan that addresses the HIV prevention priorities for the area, and then defines the types of prevention programs that are necessary to address the established priorities. PEPP is a partnership between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the State of Florida Department of Health, and the community. PEPP’s purpose is to develop the HIV Prevention Plan that defines the HIV prevention priorities for the area and defines the types of prevention programs that are necessary to address the priorities. The Quality Initiatives Coordinating Council is a partnership of Duval County area HMOs, hospitals, Medical Society, and Public Health Department that coordinates health improvement initiatives in the community. Through coordination, the local health care providers can reach a greater number of residents and provide consistent initiatives for health promotion and disease prevention. The Coordinating Council’s focus this year has been improving the adult and pediatric immunization rates throughout the community. Through coordinated education programs, media campaigns, and provider/patient outreach, the Council has been able to increase awareness of the importance of immunizations in disease prevention.
