About FSA
The Filipino Student Association [FSA] a social club that focuses on bringing a bit of the Filipino culture to the University of North Florida [UNF]
campus. Newly revived, we plan to bring FSA back to its former status. We have a couple of events lined up for the year, including, of course, Worldfest
UNF FSA History
Unfortunately, We don't have very much information about the club before 2005. All we know was that FSA was once very active in UNF. They had a dance team, yearly events, and many active members. However, the club suddenly disbanded in 2002 and FSA alumnis and members at the time wondered why there were no updates or news about the club.
In 2004, Joey Rodil, Michelle Felix, and Redner Salonga, three freshmen, heard about the former activites of FSA and decided to learn more about running a club. Throughout the year, they did the necessary paperwork and went through the process of bringing FSA back on campus.
By the fall semester of 2005, FSA was back and determined to become as strong as it was before. The first event that was planned was a Halloween party to promote FSA and bring the students closer together. However, it was the spring semester was what really brought the club to what it is now.
Every year, UNF puts on a cultural event in April known as Worldfest, and FSA was asked to partake in the event by performing a cultural dance. The members decided to do a dance known as "Tinikling", and through practices and the event itself, FSA became a club of close-knit friends.
